(Job Type: Full-time, in person at Main laboratory)

Job Summary:

A full time pathology grossing technician (Biopsy Tech) is needed to join our evening team. Responsible for the accurate gross description, dissection and processing of biopsies, margins and tissue specimens according to established protocols. 

Essential Key Responsibilities:

  • Performs all technical aspects of grossing and dictating tissue specimens using a variety of laboratory materials and equipment under direct supervisor of Pathologist or Pathologist Assistant.

  • Ensures specimen integrity upon arrival and throughout the entire process.

  • Dictates a gross description for each specimen including, but not limited to anatomical site, size, color, weight, dimensions, count, volume, cut techniques, abnormal findings, orient skin excisions, ink, dissects and prepares tissue for cassettes.

  • Escalates non-routine complicated specimens to the Pathologist Assistant

  • Maintains accurate work records.

  • Prepares dissected tissue specimens and places them into cassettes.

  • Loads prepared cassettes into Tissue Processors and starts the processor.

  • Performs Quality Control and Quality Assurance Procedures.

  • Assist with the ordering and accessioning of specimens

  • Maintains laboratory equipment and tracks all routine maintenance and quality controls performed.

  • Operates and cleans laboratory equipment if needed.

  • Disposes of hazardous chemical wastes per regulatory guidelines.

  • Maintains strictest confidentiality.

  • Complies with all State, Federal, professional regulations as well as company and departmental rules, policies, and procedural manuals.

  • Adherence to CAP, CLIA, State Regulations, HIPAA, Safety and OSHA Regulations.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • This position is an evening position


Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory technology obtained from an accredited institution or equivalent under the 1988 Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) guidelines of high complexity testing.


OR

  • Education/training equivalent to the above that includes at least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution. This education must include 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses, or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours of chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology or medical laboratory technology in any combination. State licensure, if applicable.


Experience:

1 year of practical laboratory experience is preferred.

Salary:
Salary is based on experience. If you do not have experience we will train in house. Training for a minimum of 3 months.

Requirements:
Successful completion of a visual color discrimination test.

Equipment:
Computers, computer programs, information system(s), scanners, forceps, rulers, tissue dyes, scalpel or razor blades, tissue processors, and personal protective equipment.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Knowledge of laboratory policies and procedures, equipment, and testing to monitor control checks.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation.

  • Skill in gross dissection and dictation preferred .

  • Skill in using computer programs and applications.

  • Skill in performing a full range of laboratory tests and operating a variety of laboratory instrumentation and equipment preferred but not required.

  • Ability to listen, read, understand, and follow oral, and written instruction.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.

  • Positive can-do attitude

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Organized with ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment


Environmental Working Conditions:

Laboratory Setting; exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, blood borne pathogens, and chemical hazards.

Physical Requirements:
Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger; handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to focus. Requires visual acuity and normal color perception.

Job Summary:

Under the direct supervision of the Billing Manager, AR Specialist is responsible for systematically investigating each denial and compiling appeals for corrected claims previously denied by payers.

Essential Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively monitor and keep up with appeals work que.

  • Uncover trends by one or more insurance carriers and recommend the process to prevent or reduce the risk of future claims denials.

  • Work closely with AR and other teams in the business office to help with workload as needed.


Education/Licensure/Certification:

Associates Degree Preferred. High School or GED required.

Experience:

3+ years experience in physician medical office billing, collections and/or medical coding. 1 year experience with ICD-10 preferred. Certified Professional Coder (ICD-10) highly desired.

Job Summary:


Current job openings are evening shifts. - Shift differential will be added to the base pay depending on shift worked

Perform specimen processing and clerical functions in one or more sections of the laboratory.

  • Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing and transporting specimens.

  • Keep work area in a safe, aseptic and organized manner.

  • Fulfill clerical duties which may include but are not limited to answering phones, data entry, and filing.

  • Process specimens and perform record keeping duties as required by department.

  • Maintain equipment and perform materials management duties such as keeping supply inventories at optimum levels and transporting specimens, equipment and supplies.

  • Assist pathologist with frozen sections

  • Embedding and cutting of tissue specimens


Education/Licensure/Certification:

High School diploma required. Bachelor’s Degree in biological science is required to advance to other positions.
