100% surgical case review
We know that physicians and the patients they serve depend on a “right-the-first-time” diagnosis, the PLA team has made an unusual commitment to accuracy.
Case review is a method of error discovery our team uses to ensure our work meets high standards. Every surgical biopsy case our pathologists examine benefits from this oversite.
100% of surgical biopsy cases are reviewed by a 2nd pathologist within 48-72 hours of initial pathologist case completion.
While this is time-consuming and costly in terms of department resources, this process diminishes error proportions. We don’t know of another pathology group that dedicates resources in a similar manner.
10,000,000 tests completed last year
The PLA team provides oversite of many laboratories throughout northeastern Oklahoma, surrounding communities and several out of state clients. This leadership helps to efficiently orchestrate and quickly deliver accurate and standardized results for a growing number of patients each year.

Local is valuable:
- We likely know or have consulted with you as a physician
- We likely have read out prior biopsies on each patient, so we have a unique ability to correlate with the patient history over time
- Turn-around-time is reduced
We have invested in tools to distribute cases in a manner that optimizes case loads which helps to effectively direct cases to the appropriate specialist and to complete cases quickly and accurately. When an external consultation is indicated (Less than 0.1% of the time) we leverage established national experts for second opinions.
Additionally, PLA provides expert pathology consultations for many outside clients.
90% of pathology cases are signed out within 48 hours
Turnaround times for pathology diagnoses can reflect a laboratory’s quality and efficiency, and directly effects patient care. PLA’s ability to quickly process special and complex cases sets our team apart from others.
First to perform SARS-COV-2 testing
With leadership, expertise and technical ability, we were the first non-government laboratory in Oklahoma to perform SARS-COV-2 testing.
We have a pathologist on call 24/7/365 for our clients’ and patients’ urgent needs. Rapid diagnosis and interventions contribute to improved patient and critical care outcomes. We are a phone call away Monday through Friday, 8-5, to answer pathology or laboratory questions for our clients.
Zero days shut down due to weather
Since it’s founding, PLA has been an early adopter of quality and process improvements. This translates into dependability, reliability and best practices that set our team apart as leaders and innovators in our industry.
